they came



They came
Opening her tear filled eyes
Seemed, became impossible
For the glass of tears
Plastered even her thoughts.
Blinking them away
Seemed to invite more,
As some gave way
To a torrent of them.

She wept condemning
Herself for it.
Ostracizing, crucifying her weakness.
But oh they came
Like a tsunami out to take lives
They came.

They came from years
Of preservation, deprivation.
For outward they wanted to be.
To clear and wash away.
The dirt filled soul
The hate infested heart
They came.
